Meet Edon
Edon Davenport is a mother of four and a passionate advocate for families, education, and community. With children currently attending high school, middle school, and elementary school, Edon understands firsthand the challenges families face as they navigate the school system. She shares the hopes of many in our growing community, working to build a brighter, more stable future for the next generation.
Edon brings years of leadership experience through her service in the PTA. She currently serves as PTA President at Saratoga Shores Elementary and has previously held roles as Leadership Vice President, Legislative Vice President, and Fundraising Chair. Her work has helped secure multiple grants from National PTA, including funding for parent trainings focused on mental health and digital wellness. Under her leadership, Saratoga Shores became one of only five schools in Utah to receive the National PTA School of Excellence Award.
In addition to her local service, Edon served on the Utah PTA's Legislative Advocacy Committee, which shapes the state PTA's positions on key education legislation. She is a firm believer in giving parents a voice in public education and making policy decisions that reflect community values.
Professionally, Edon serves as the Director of Development for Little Hands Can, a grassroots nonprofit that creates service opportunities for young children and their families. Her career in nonprofit leadership has included building funding strategies, writing hundreds of successful grants, managing budgets, and organizing large-scale community initiatives. She began her career working for the Chinese American Service League in Chicago, helping secure critical funding to support vulnerable populations in the city’s Chinatown. Across every role, Edon has consistently delivered results, raising millions of dollars and driving meaningful impact in the communities she serves.
Edon holds a Master’s Degree in Human Relations and Business from Amberton University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Utah. Her global perspective has been shaped by time spent volunteering in Hong Kong and living for two years in Guadalajara, Mexico, where she deepened her appreciation for multicultural communities. She is conversational in both Cantonese and Spanish.
Edon’s commitment to education was inspired early on by her mother, a high school theater teacher and counselor for more than three decades. That foundation instilled in her a deep love for learning, the arts, and student well-being.
Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Edon is a certified Master Gardener and a certified yoga instructor for both adults and children. She strives to bring calm, balance, and intention to everything she does and hopes to bring that same thoughtful energy to the school board.
"Our community is only as strong as our weakest school." - Edon Davenport
