The School Board is an elected office so we will be running a political campaign asking other Saratoga residents for their support and their vote. Over the coming months, you’ll start to see yard signs, flyers and other information about candidates in this important election.
A school board member speaks for students, teachers, parents and taxpayers in their area.
The school board makes decisions about things like:
School budgets and funding
Hiring the superintendent and business administrator
Facilities and construction (like building new schools)
School policies such as safety and discipline
Curriculum and educational programs
The school board does NOT:
Teach, drive the bus or manage school lunches
Run day to day operations
Hire or fire individual teachers or staff
Decide how teachers deliver every lesson in the classroom
Directly discipline students, except in cases of expulsion
Run private, charter or homeschool programs
School board members have to live in the area they represent. That means that you will be voting for one of your neighbors. Candidates have to file the necessary paperwork with Utah County to appear on the ballot. Edon is running for Seat 7 in South Saratoga.
